Florian KREWER

Born in 1986 in Gerolstein (Allemagne), lives and works in New York.

Florian Krewer explores the lives of young people and the various impulses that drive them, facing the tough world they are living in: love, pure energy (dance, sport, etc.) and aggressive attitudes. Eluding one-dimensional reading, the urban characters in Krewer’s paintings seem escaping from these situations by a kind of a levitating gesture and a dynamic placement of the figures on the canvas where, sometimes, some represented animals suggest analogy between humans and their primary condition.

Graduated from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the class of Peter Doig, Krewer’s work has been exhibited in solo shows at Michael Werner Gallery in London (2021, 2019), at TRAMPS & Michael Werner Gallery in New York (2020, 2018) and at Tom Dick or Harry in Düsseldorf (2015) and in group shows including We Paint! at the Beaux-Arts de Paris (2022) and Ouverture at Pinault Collection – Bourse de commerce in Paris (2021).
